Sushi
Sushi is a traditional type of Japanese food consisting of prepared vinegar rice with another item. There are several types of sushi. Most of which are often eaten with soy sauce (shoyu), Japanese spicy horseradish (wasabi), and or ginger.
Norimaki
Norimaki or sushi roll is the most common type of sushi in Japanese restaurants in the west. The filling of raw or cooked fish, seafood, vegetables, or egg is rolled in rice then wrapped in dried seaweed.
Nigiri
This type of sushi consists of sushi rice with a piece of raw or cooked fish, seafood, or egg on the top; sometimes with a small piece of seaweed wrapped around it. The most common toppings are raw fish, octopus, squid, eel, shrimp, or cooked egg.
Gunkan
Dried seaweed shaped in small cups with rice and or seafood filled inside. The most common kind is fish eggs, sea urchins, or a seafood and mayonnaise mixture.
Temaki
These sushis are rice, seafood, and vegetables hand rolled and wrapped by a cone-shaped dried seaweed leaf.
Inari
Inari is a unique sushi that is a deep-fried tofu encasing with sushi rice filled within. The tofu usually has a lightly sweet taste.
